Please join us on this Saturday, April 27th at the totem pole for our very special guest, Jarrid "Jay" Collins, who is a former Green Beret and combat-wounded amputee representing Operation BBQ Relief, an organization that for years has served hot BBQ meals to those displaced by natural disasters. Now, Operation BBQ Relief is expanding its efforts to include first responders, members of the military and the hungry.
To introduce OBR’s new “Always Serving Project,” Jay is running, biking and hand-cycling from Los Angeles to Tampa, Fla., stopping along to way to help serve BBQ meals to local organizations and individuals. He’ll complete his journey in time to participate in the 2019 Warrior Games, an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans held in Tampa.
Jay and his family will be honored at the Dodgers game this Saturday as the Hero of the Game where they will highlight his military service and his efforts to give back to others.
Jay will then kick off his cross-country "Breaking Bread Tour" by feeding the hungry in downtown LA on Sunday, April 28th at the Union Mission located at 545 South San Pedro St., Los Angeles, CA 90013 from 10:30 am - 2:30 pm. We would ask as many of you who are able to join with us on Sunday to see Jay off on his tour and to help feed the homeless and hungry in downtown LA.
